Ks.Landy is an artist whose practice centers on painting natural landscapes and scenes of rural life. The inspiration behind this body of work began when he returned to live in Nong Khai, the province where he was born and raised, after years of living and studying in the city. Returning home allowed him to quietly notice how familiar places had gradually changed through the dynamics of modern life.

The artist wandered through corners of his community carrying his painting equipment, pausing at rice fields, ponds, and ordinary rural spaces shaped by everyday life. Observing the rhythms and traces of the people who inhabit these places, he captured fleeting impressions through small sketches before later transforming them into paintings in the studio. This process recalls the working methods of Western Impressionist painters, who immersed themselves in real light and atmosphere in order to capture “the feeling of a moment” rather than merely reproduce reality.

At first glance, Close to Home may appear to be a simple phrase, yet the exhibition feels as though the artist is gently reintroducing us to the imagery of rural life through his perspective in oil painting — one that transports viewers into places that feel both familiar and strangely extraordinary. Although no figures appear within the paintings, traces of human presence remain. The stillness and silence within these works never feel empty; instead, they create space for subtler emotions to emerge — a sense of calm, quiet solitude, and an indescribable familiarity.

Across different times of day — from morning to evening and into the night — the same places evoke entirely different emotions. The changing light and atmosphere resemble memories that continue to linger, though never exactly as they once were. These paintings are therefore not simply representations of landscapes, but sincere reflections on attachment, memory, and the artist’s emotional connection to these ways of life. In the process, viewers may rediscover something that has long existed close to home, unnoticed all along.

Ks.Landy ศิลปินที่สนใจวาดภาพทิวทัศน์ของธรรมชาติในวิถีชีวิตแบบชนบท แรงบันดาลใจในผลงานชุดนี้ได้เริ่มต้นจากการกลับไปใช้ชีวิตอยู่ที่บ้านในจังหวัดหนองคาย ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ที่เขาเกิดและเติบโตมา หลังจากใช้ชีวิตและเรียนจบจากในเมือง การกลับมาอยู่บ้านครั้งนี้ทำให้เห็นสิ่งเดิม ๆ ดูเปลี่ยนไปอย่างเงียบ ๆ ตามพลวัตของวิถีชีวิตสมัยใหม่  ศิลปินออกไปสำรวจมุมต่าง ๆ แถวชุมชนที่บ้าน แบกอุปกรณ์วาดภาพ ได้หยุดอยู่กับทุ่งนา บึงน้ำ กับพื้นที่ธรรมดาตามวิถีชีวิตแบบชนบทและเห็นความเป็นอยู่ของคนในชุมชน ก่อนจะเก็บความรู้สึกประทับใจต่างๆผ่านภาพสเก็ตช์เล็ก ๆ แล้วนำกลับมาสร้างเป็นผลงานในสตูดิโอ วิธีการทำงานนี้คล้ายกับจิตรกรตะวันตกในแนว Impressionism ที่ออกไปเผชิญกับแสงและบรรยากาศจริง เพื่อเก็บ “ความรู้สึกของช่วงเวลา” มากกว่าการบันทึกภาพให้เหมือนจริงเพียงอย่างเดียว 

นิทรรศการ “ใกล้บ้าน” อาจดูเหมือนจะเป็นคำธรรมดา แต่เหมือนตัวศิลปินได้กลับไปแนะนำ…ภาพของวิถีชนบทผ่านมุมมองการวาดภาพจิตรกรรมสีน้ำมันที่ให้ความรู้สึกนำพาเราไปอีกสถานที่แห่งใหม่ที่ไม่ธรรมดา ภาพที่ปรากฏจึงเป็นภาพของสิ่งที่อยู่ใกล้ตัวจริง ๆ ถึงแม้จะไม่มีผู้คนอยู่ในภาพ แต่ยังคงมีร่องรอยของการใช้ชีวิตหลงเหลืออยู่ ความนิ่งและความเงียบในภาพไม่ได้ทำให้เรารู้สึกว่างเปล่าแต่อย่างใด หากแต่เปิดพื้นที่ให้ความรู้สึกบางอย่างชัดขึ้น ทั้งความสงบ ความเหงาเบา ๆ และความคุ้นเคยที่อธิบายไม่ถูกในช่วงเวลาที่ต่างกันนั้น ตั้งแต่เช้า เย็น ไปจนถึงกลางคืน สถานที่เดิมก็ให้ความรู้สึกไม่เหมือนเดิม แสงและบรรยากาศที่ค่อย ๆ เปลี่ยนไป คล้ายกับความทรงจำที่ยังอยู่ แต่ไม่เหมือนเดิมทั้งหมด ผลงานชุดนี้จึงไม่ใช่แค่การวาดภาพสถานที่ แต่เป็นการบอกเล่าความผูกพัน และความรู้สึกที่มีต่อวิถีชีวิตเหล่านั้นอย่างจริงใจที่สุด เราอาจได้พบอะไรบางอย่างที่เคยอยู่ ใกล้บ้านของเราเองมาตลอดโดยไม่ทันสังเกต
